The Gordon County Transportation and Public Works Department is responsible for the maintenance and paving of 701 Official County Roads. The Gordon County Board of Commissioners originally adopted the current road index in 1984; subsequently roads are only added to the index following official acceptance by the Board of Commissioner, and only if these roads meet the criteria outlined in County ordinances. These totals do not include State Routes and Private Roads. We strive to maintain the 1085.04 miles of rights of way on County roads to provide safe driving conditions. Maintenance includes, but is not limited to:

 

• Mowng of rightof way
• Signage
• Vegetation control
• Drainage ditching
• Paving and patching
• Shoulder work
• Grading
