The Board of County Commissioners will conduct a public hearing to obtain citizen comments regarding the recommended budget on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the Gordon County Administration Building, 201 N. Wall Street in Calhoun. The public is invited to attend and participate in this public hearing.

Recommendation

The Gordon County Board of Commissioners held a Work Session Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at 4:30 p.m. in the conference room of the Administration Building.

Chairman Hood called the meeting to order.

At a workshop, the Board heard a presentation from the insurance consultants John Meadows and B. J. Meadows of Starr-Mathews regarding employee health insurance. They gave a presentation explaining what self-insured means and discussed recommendations for the insurance plan for the upcoming fiscal year.

The work session started at 5:30 p.m. with Tallatoona Board members Judy Greeson who represents the public sector of the Tallatoona Community Board of Directors, and Jan Young representing the private section of that Board of Directors, spoke to the Board concerning their concerns with restrictions of their Board members having any contact with any local HRDC offices. However, they have noticed a dramatic increase in firing by the manager over all the seven local county HRDC offices. Their concerns include that there are some firing issues occurring now in the Gordon County local office.

The Board discussed each item on the agenda and made no changes or additions.

Commissioner Cunningham made a motion to adjourn the Work Session, Commissioner Sexton seconded the motion and all voted aye.

There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 5:50 p.m.

The Gordon County Board of Commissioners held their Regular Meeting on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Administration Building.

Vice Chairman Hood called the meeting to order.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Chairman Hood asked if there were any additions, omissions, or deletions to the Minutes for the Work Session April 9, 2013 and the Regular Meeting April 9, 2013. Commissioner Steward made a motion to approve the minutes. Commissioner Cunningham seconded the motion and all voted aye. Minutes approved.

COMMISSIONERS’ REPORT

Commissioner Sexton advised that he attended the Board of Health meeting this past week. The members discussed their upcoming budget request to the County and asked Commissioner Sexton if the County would be able to keep their budget at the same level as last year. Commissioner Sexton advised that this is a tight budget year, but the Board of Commissioners will try to keep their budget the same.
